Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Out Monday
Rotowire
Kleber (ankle) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
Kleber has yet to return to practice after tweaking his ankle early in training camp. With so much competition in the frontcourt, Kleber is looking at a minimal role at best this season.

Mavericks' Brandon Williams: Out with calf strain
Rotowire
Williams (calf) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
Williams is on a two-way contract with Dallas and isn't expected to crack the rotation to open the season. He can be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's exhibition versus Utah.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Dealing with hip issue
Rotowire
Washington will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis due to left hip tightness.
Presumably, the Mavericks are just being cautious with four starters getting the night off. Washington should be considered questionable for Thursday's preseason game against Utah. In 29 regular-season games for Dallas in 2023-24, Washington averaged 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks.

Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Ruled out Monday
Rotowire
Thompson (rest) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
The Mavericks will be without four starters Monday, but Thompson is not battling an injury. His next chance to debut for Dallas will be Thursday against Utah.

-
Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Won't play Monday
Rotowire
Irving (rest) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
Notably, the Mavericks didn't mention Irving's surgically-repaired left hand in the injury report. As it stands, Irving remains on track to appear for Dallas on Opening Night. As for Thursday's preseason game against Utah, his status remains unclear.

Mavericks' Dante Exum: Sustains serious wrist injury
Rotowire
Exum sustained a right wrist injury during training camp that could require surgery, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Treatment options are being evaluated for Exum, though he could miss a significant amount of time due to the injury. The 29-year-old typically served as a spark off the bench last season, during which he averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds across 19.8 minutes per game in 55 regular-season appearances (17 starts). Exum could miss substantial time, and if he does Naji Marshall, Jaden Hardy and Quentin Grimes are candidates for extra minutes.

Mavericks' Kessler Edwards: Sidelined by ankle sprain
Rotowire
Edwards has a sprained ankle and was unable to participate in Wednesday's practice, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Edwards' availability for Monday's preseason opener against Memphis could be in jeopardy. It's an unfortunate incident for the 24-year-old, who is looking to make an impression while on a two-way contract with Dallas, but the severity of his injury is unknown.

Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Battling ankle sprain
Rotowire
Kleber did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle sprain, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Coach Jason Kidd noted that Kleber is "a little ways away" from returning to practice, so his ankle sprain is notable despite training camp having just begun. Dallas is well-stocked at center, and Dwight Powell should absorb more third-string practice reps in Kleber's absence.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Will miss preseason opener
Rotowire
Doncic (calf) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason opener against the Grizzlies, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
Doncic took an inadvertent kick to his left calf during Sunday's private workout and underwent an MRI on Tuesday after experiencing tightness during Monday's first training camp practice. The MVP candidate will likely miss more than one exhibition and could be sidelined for the entire preseason schedule. However, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com, Doncic is expected to be ready for the regular-season opener against the Spurs on Oct. 24.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Dealing with calf contusion
Rotowire
Doncic suffered a left calf contusion during Wednesday's practice and will be re-evaluated in one week.
Doncic dealt with ankle, knee and chest injuries during the Mavericks' playoff run last season but didn't miss any games and was active during the summer, playing for the Slovenia national team during an Olympic qualifying tournament. It's concerning to see the MVP candidate already dealing with another injury, but there's no indication he's in danger of missing the start of the regular season.

Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Feels good heading into camp
Rotowire
Irving said Monday that his surgically repaired left hand is doing "much better" ahead of training camp, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports.
Irving said he had trouble winding down his activity following the Mavericks' loss to the Celtics in the NBA Finals. He went right back to work in competitive settings, which is where he broke his left hand. However, Irving said it was a blessing in disguise because it allowed him to rest and recover for the remainder of the offseason. He was shut down for eight weeks following his surgery in mid-July but has been ramping up his activity and remains on track for Opening Night.

Mavericks' Melvin Ajinca: Not on training camp roster
Rotowire
Ajinca has not been included on the Mavericks' training camp roster.
Ajinca was a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and the organization could explore several avenues with the promising prospect, from stashing him overseas to playing him in the G League. The one clear thing is that Ajinca won't be competing for a spot in the 2024-25 regular season roster, at least not during training camp.

Mavericks' Emanuel Miller: Competing for roster spot
Rotowire
Miller is listed as part of the Mavericks' training camp roster for 2024-24.
Miller went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft after spending the previous three years at TCU. However, he will now have the ability to compete for a regular-season roster spot in Dallas.

Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Ramping up ahead of camp
Rotowire
Doncic is ramping up his workload ahead of training camp and has been practicing with the club Ilirija in Slovenia, the DLLS Mavs Podcast reports.
Doncic had a busy offseason while preparing for the 2024-25 season. The All-Star appeared in three outings for Slovenia during the qualifying round of the Paris Olympics, totaling 83 points, 29 rebounds and 25 assists in that span. After failing to qualify for the Olympics, Doncic spent time practicing with Ilirija in Slovenia, and he is fully ready for training camp after a short offseason. The perennial MVP candidate averaged a career-high 33.9 points, 9.8 assists and 9.2 rebounds across 37.5 minutes per game in 70 regular-season outings last year.
