Prices for dog insurance
You can check prices for dog insurance online. In order to get the best possible price for dog insurance, just choose the coverages you really need. That way you avoid paying for coverages you don’t need.
You can also choose between NOK 2500 or NOK 4000 in excess. Excess only applies to veterinary fees and loss of value in use. If you select the highest excess, your dog insurance will be cheaper.

What does the insurance not cover?
- Injury that occurs within the quarantine period of 20 days after taking out the insurance
- Preventative treatment
- Arthrosis and calcification
- Food pellets and medicinal pellets
Are there any limits to the cover?
- The insurance cannot be taken out until the dog is 5 weeks old
- The overall settlement payment is limited to the insurance sum stated in the insurance certificate, and applies per insurance year/insurance event.
- Dental disorders
- For HD/AD, regardless of the dog’s age, both parents must be X-rayed and scanned in accordance with NKK’s guidelines for HD with a result of A or B, and for AD, a result of 0, as well as being continuously insured from before they turned 4 months old.
- Caesarean sections in the breeds English Bulldog, French Bulldog, Mops, Boston Terrier, Chihuahua and Pomeranian or mixes that include the above breeds
- General breed-specific limitations

The insurance is valid worldwide.
What are my obligations?
You are obliged to report the dog’s/cat’s actual health condition, and any diseases/injuries the dog/cat has when the insurance is taken out.
The insurance certificate specifies which information is used as a basis. If anything is incorrect, you must inform us immediately. Security regulations are damage prevention and damage limitation measures you must take, and you will find these in the insurance certificate.
In the event of injury you must contact us as soon as possible. If you do not comply with your obligations, the settlement payment may be reduced, fully or partly.

Loss of value in use
Loss of value in use provides compensation if your dog becomes permanently injured or ill and cannot carry out tasks within the insured area of use. This applies to service dogs, hunting dogs, herding dogs and breeding dogs.
Dog litter
If you’re a dog breeder, you may consider dog litter insurance as an ancillary benefit. This applies to puppy litters from when the puppies turn 1 month old to the day they are handed over to the buyer, or a maximum of 3 months. The insurance covers veterinary expenses, death, loss and theft. The highest compensation sum is NOK 6000 per puppy, in addition to the bitch’s sum insured. The insurance covers up to puppy litters over the course of a bitch’s life.
It is a prerequisite that the pairing conformed to Norsk Kennel Klubbs (Norwegian Kennel Club’s) code of ethics for dog breeding.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation covers physiotherapy and chiropractic performed or requested by a veterinarian.
Useful to know about dog insurance
- The insurance can be bought for dogs who are between 5 weeks and 7 years old, and up to 10 years old if you move the insurance to us from a different company.
- You do not need a veterinary certificate when buying dog insurance.
- A stolen/lost dog must be reported to us and to the police, and be searched for.
- The dog must be tagged with ID.
